First Real Update


In this update, I focused a bit on polishing and introducing savegames. Currently, you save the position your spaceship is currently at, plus all discovered and probed stars systems. It was a bug hurdle and I had to refine a lot of the code to get it working properly. The value of groups here is really high. I love groups in Godot. 

Other changes

  • Instead of a plain black background, a space panorama is shown
  • New sounds for walking
  • Refinements for the star map ui and the UI theme overall, especially buttons
  • Refinements for the particles visible when the space ship moves
  • Removed Crouching

Known Issues

  • Glitch that leads to footstep sounds sounding when entering a UI.
  • When the ship moves and you save, the ship will be at the destination goal when loading a game
  • Currently, no loading from the main menu is possible, you have to start the game and then load using the pause menu
  • You can currently fly to the star you are already at

Roadmap

  • Making a save game menu for multiple save games and loading from the main menu
  • Allow saving if the ship is moving
  • Introducing an inventory for probe results first
